Indian firm wins Gulf transmission projects

Larsen & Toubro secures orders worth $198m

India’s Larsen & Toubro has won $197.5m worth of orders for three transmission projects in the Gulf.

The company secured a $153.5 engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning contract from Qatar Petroleum. The deal covers the construction of four substations, 132kV cables and 33kV and 11kV power distribution lines at Ras Laffan industrial city.

Under a second $20m contract, the company will build a 66/11kV substation in Doha. The client is Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

Finally, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority awarded the company a $24m contract to construct a 132/11kV substation.

In late June, Larsen & Toubro won a separate $20m contract in Oman for the construction of a 132/33kV substation in the Nakhal area, in the northeast of the sultanate. The client is Oman Electricity & Transmission Company (MEED 29:6:09).
