India's GET Power low bidder for Oman power transmission scheme

Lowest bid for transmission project comes in at $37m

Indian’s GET Power has put in the low bid for a contract being tendered by the Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) to upgrade a grid station and install a connecting transmission line.

The upgrade scheme will convert the current grid station to 220kV capacity and will see a 220kV associated transmission line put in place.

The tender was launched in May. A total of ten bids have been submitted to perform the engineering procurement and construction (EPC) project:

  • GET Power (India) – OMR 14.25m ($37m)
  • Ozdil Enerji Taahhut (Turkey) – OMR 14.99m
  • ICOMM Tele Limited (India) – OMR 17.44m
  • Larsen & Toubro (India) – OMR 17.77m
  • Simplex Infrastructures (India) – OMR 18.41m
  • Bahwan Engineering Company (Oman) – OMR 18.68m
  • Oman National Engineering & Investment Company (Oman) – OMR 18.94m
  • National Contracting Company (Saudi Arabia) – OMR 19.46m
  • ABB (Switzerland) – OMR23.86m
  • Galfar Engineering & Contracting (Oman) – OMR 31.99m

Eight companies were prequalified, but opted not to bid:

  • Sunir (Iran)
  • KEC Global (Austria)
  • Danway Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (UAE)
  • Kalpataru Power Transmission (India)
  • China National Electric Wire & Cable Import & Export Corporation (China)
  • Hasan Juma Backer Trading & Contracting Company (Oman)
  • Imco Engineering & Construction Company (Kuwait)
  • Areva (France)
