Medco Energi signed joint venture exploration deal in 2005

Indonesia’s Medco Energi has invited Libyan registered drilling contractors to prequalify for two tenders for the provision of drilling and workover rigs for its 2013-14 programme at its Block-47 concession in Libya’s Ghadames basin.

The firm has set a 17 February deadline for the submission of prequalification documents for the supply of a 750-horsepower (hp) workover rig and a 1,500-hp drilling rig in the area.

An invitation to tender will be released in February 2013.

Medco’s drilling programme includes exploration and the appraisal or development of any discoveries, starting in April.

Medco has a 25 per cent stake in the joint venture exploring the Block-47 concession, along with Canada’s Verenex Energy and state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC).
