As Gulf Drilling International (GDI) has expanded its scope, its client base and market share in Qatar have grown. An expansion plan doubled the firm’s operations, increasing the size of its fleet from nine to 18 assets.

Warehousing plays a vital role in rig operation, and GDI has developed a masterplan for its yard plots (about 22,000 square metres). The firm has invested in state-of-the-art mega-warehouse and logistics facilities in the Dukhan area. These have been kitted out with the equipment and tools needed to ensure the infrastructure will meet GDI’s medium- and long-term business aims, and comply with the highest health, safety and environment standards.

This project was completed on time and within its budget.

The facilities provide economical storage with regard to the cost of equipment, use of spares and protection against damage. They also provide flexibility to meet changing storage and handling requirements. Modern pallet racking systems have been installed to categorise and handle the storage of various items.
