Invensys wins contract at Jubail refinery

03 July 2008
Invensys Process Systems has won a contract worth about $80m to design, build and install all automation systems at the 400,000-barrel-a-day (b/d) export refinery in Jubail.

The UK group will also install operations training simulators, enabling suppliers to test process controls at the plant.

The contract award has not yet been officially confirmed, but sources close to the bidding say they expect an announcement in the coming days.

The state-owned oil giant Saudi Aramco and its joint venture partner on the project, France’s Total, shortlisted firms for the construction packages at the refinery in June. In all, nine packages will be available - five main construction packages, and four additional contracts (MEED 6:6:08).
