Facility mooted for Savad-Kooh in the Mazandaran province

Iran’s Ministry of Industries & Mines has released a tender for the engineering, procurement, construction and finance (EPCF) of a coke producing plant at Savad-Kooh area in the Mazandaran province.

The tender has been floated and is open to either local or foreign companies. However, 51 per cent of any joint venture must be held by a local company.

When completed the plant will have a capacity of 300,000 tonesa year of coke and the facility will be based on the heat recovery method.

The tender is being handled by Iran Mines and Mineral Industries Development and Renovation Organisation. The closing date of the tender or the proposed budget has not been disclosed.

Savad-Kooh is home to a number of coal industry-related factories and other facilities.

It is as yet unclear as to how many foreign companies will bid on the project due to UN and US economic sanctions that are being imposed due to Tehran’s alleged nuclear programme.
