President Ahmadinejad says Iran will reveal ‘major nuclear achievements’
Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the country will announce advances in its nuclear programme “in the coming days”.
Ahmadinejad was speaking on 11 February, the 33 anniversary of the Islamic revolution that toppled the Shah in 1979.
“In the coming days, the world will witness Iran’s announcement of its very important and very major nuclear achievements,” the president told a crowd in Tehran’s Azadi Square.
Exactly what the advances might be are unclear, although Tehran has always maintained that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes. Both the US and Israel have warned military action if Tehran does not abandon its nuclear ambitions.
