Iran's oil minister replaces energy directors

24 September 2008
Iran’s Oil Minister Gholamhossein Nozari has replaced the managing directors of three state-run oil and gas firms as part of ongoing changes in the country's energy industry.

Azizollah Ramezani, who was previously gas supply director at the state-run National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), has been named as the interim managing director of National Iranian Gas Company.

Ramezani replaces Seyed Reza Kasaeizadeh, who has been appointed as the new head of the National Iranian Gas Export Company.

Adel Nazhad-Salim is the new managing director of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NIPC), after previously heading up the Imam Khomeini Port Petrochemical Company.

The previous NIPC boss, Gholamhossein Nejabat, has been appointed as a senior consultant to Nozari.

Earlier in 2008, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed deputy oil minister Ali Kordan as the country’s Interior Minister. Kordan, however, retains responsibility for the country’s stalled gas deal with the UAE’s Crescent Petroleum (MEED 15:9:08).
