Police headquarters attacked in Kirkuk
Iraqi militants attacked a police intelligence headquarters in the disputed northern city of Kirkuk, killing at least six people during a two-hour gun battle. Another 47 people were wounded, according to health officials, Reuters news agency reports. Another 12 people were killed in two separate attacks across northern Iraq on 3 December. The death toll in 2013 has surged to more than 5,800, the worst total since 2008.
