Israel stops suicide bomb deaths

03 November 2003
The Israeli intelligence service prevented a suicide bomber from harming anyone in a suicide bombing in the West Bank on 3 November. Israeli military sources said that a Palestinian, who has been identified as 17-year old member of the Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, Sabih Abu Saud, blew himself up near a group of Israeli soldiers in the town of Qalqilya. Nobody apart from Saud was killed in the incident, but one soldier was slightly hurt, reported the local press. Israeli intelligence said that they had been following Saud for some hours before the incident. Security forces were on high alert before the bombing after they received over 45 warnings of imminent attacks.

Hours earlier, an Israeli soldier was shot and slightly wounded late on 2 November during a routine patrol near the West Bank village of Shufa. Nobody has been arrested for the shooting (MEED 31:10:03).
