Israeli-Palestinian meeting in London

27 November 2003
A round of meetings between senior Israelis and Palestinians is to be held in London on 27-28 November, reported the local daily Haaretz. Delegations from both sides will attend two days of meetings focussing on 'the role of the international community in promoting stability in the region', 'the key military threats to the region's security', 'confidence building measures [that might] restart progress on the roadmap,' and 'greater economic activity [that] can be a catalyst for political reproachment'. The event is called the 'Rabin Peace Seminar,' in memory of the former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was assassinated on 4 November 1995.

Israeli delegates attending include Knesset members Omri Sharon - the Prime Minister's son - Ephraim Sneh and Isaac Herzog. The Palestinian team includes Palestinian Authority national security adviser Jibril Rajoub, and Palestinian Legislative Council (parliament) member Ziyad Abu Zayad. Senior UK and EU officials will also attend the event (MEED 21:11:03).
