Israeli raids kill four

Israeli military forces on 25 September killed three Palestinians during a raid into the Gaza Strip. Israeli officials said their troops entered the Boureij refugee camp, south of Gaza city, in an operation to arrest a local Islamic Jihad leader. Palestinian gunmen fired on their troops, and Israeli forces returned fire. One member of Islamic Jihad, one member of Hamas, and a three-year old girl were killed in the gunfight. Six Israeli soldiers were injured and one killed in the incursion.

In a second operation in the West Bank another two members of Islamic Jihad were killed and a third was injured. One of the dead men has been named as Diab Shwiqi, a senior member of Islamic Jihad. His brother, Omar was injured in the attack. Israel has tried to assassinate Shwiqi at least twice, reported Israel's Haaretz daily.
