The Six Construct/Samsung joint venture will build the hospital on Sowwah Island
US-based Jacobs Engineering Group has won the contract to provide project management services for the Cleveland Clinic hospital project in Abu Dhabi.
Cleveland Clinic will be built on Sowwah Island, between Reem Island and the Mina Zayed area of Abu Dhabi Island. The non-profit academic medial centre features a 360-bed, 220,000-square-metre hospital with parking for 3,200 cars.
In March, the joint venture of the local/Belgian Six Construct Abu Dhabi and South Korea’s Samsung Group won an estimated AED4.7bn ($1.3bn) contract to build the clinic.
Local developer Aldar Properties is managing the construction on behalf of Mubadala Healthcare, a unit of Abu Dhabi government-owned Mubadala Development Company. US-based Aecom, a global provider of professional technical and management support services, is nominated as the engineer.
Mubadala also tendered a design and build contract for Tawam Hospital in Al-Ain, but it stopped the bidding process in early February (MEED 3:2:10).
