Jarallah Alghamdi

Biography: Jarallah Alghamdi has been CIO at the Saudi Ministry of Education since 2007. He is responsible for managing the technology infrastructure and applications for the ministry’s administrative sectors and departments. Alghamdi is also in charge of technology infrastructure and applications for more than 33,000 of the country’s schools.

Prior to taking up this role, he chaired the information and computer science department at the Dhahran-based King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) from 1996-2000. Alghamdi was then the dean of the college of computer sciences and engineering at KFUPM until 2007.

He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from KFUPM. Alghamdi completed a master’s degree in the same field in 1986 and has a doctorate in computer science from Arizona State University in the US.
