Jazeera Airways expands to Istanbul

03 April 2008
Jazeera Airways has expanded its network into Turkey, launching direct flights to Istanbul.

The low-cost carrier, which operates from Kuwait and Dubai, is offering discounted ticket prices of KD9 ($34) each way to boost initial traffic on the route.

Marwan Boodai, chairman and chief executive officer of Jazeera Airways, says the airline is targeting 30 per cent growth in passenger numbers between Turkey and Kuwait by the end of the year.

He says passenger numbers on Jazeera’s route to the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh grew by 160 per cent in 2007, while its route to Damascus experienced 48 per cent growth.
