Jeddah airport awards contract for Hajj terminal

Al Shaer Engineering has won a five-year contract worth SR256m ($69m) as part of the expansion of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

The local Saudi group will work on the expansion of the Hajj terminal, which is being overseen by Saudi Binladin Group, and construct facilities for docking Airbus A380 superjumbos.

Capacity at the terminal is set to more than double to 9.2 million passengers by 2025, up from 4.5 million.
