Jeddah Headquarters contract to be awarded in May

The main construction package for The Headquarters building on Jeddah’s corniche is expected to be awarded by the end of May.

The consultant, the local Sabbagh Engineering Consultant Associated, is currently reviewing bids from local and international prequalified contractors.

Al-Dar al-Khasa is the developer of the project, which is estimated to be worth SR800m ($214m). A contract had previously been expected by the end of February (MEED 5:3:08).

Saudi Freyssinet began work on the substructure in November 2007 and work is scheduled to finish on the project in September 2010.

Lamar Towers is also being developed on Jeddah’s corniche. It is due to be awarded imminently and is worth SR600m. The bidders are El-Seif and Saudi Binladen Group, both local, the local/Lebanese Saudi ACC, South Korea's Samwhan Corporation, Arabtec of the UAE, and Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (MEED 26:2:08).
