Biography: Joe Barenberg joined PET-producer Octal Petrochemicals in 2006 and is based at the firm’s headquarters in Muscat.

He is responsible for the production of 300,000 t/y of PET resin and PET sheet at the company’s manufacturing facility at Salalah in southern Oman. As well as overseeing production of Octal’s rigid plastic container products, Barenberg also plays a key role in maintaining relationships with customers.

Most business is conducted through the company’s global sales office in Dallas in the US. Barenberg began his career with US architecture and engineering consultant Black & Veatch, before joining Memphis-based paper manufacturer International Paper (IP).

He is an engineering graduate of Kansas State University and holds a master’s in business administration from Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, both in the US.
