Ahmadiah/Aktor joint venture will build new City Hospital

A joint venture (JV) of the local Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading Company and Greece’s Aktor has been awarded the main construction contract on the City Hospital project in Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).

The 210-bed cardiology and orthopaedics facility will have a built-up area of about 40,000 square metres rising to 10 storeys. Dubai-based Sharafi-PHB is the consultant; US-based Ellerbe Becket International is the design architect; and Canada’s Cansult is the project manager. The local Welcare World Health Systems (WWHS) is the client.

WWHS also plans to build a second hospital in DHCC, called the Creek Hospital. The 180-bed facility will have a 20,000-square-metre built-up area. Cansult is the architect and project manager (MEED 12:8:05).
