Biography: Jonathan Segal has been with Barclays Capital, the investment banking arm of the UK’s Barclays, since 1999.

During that time, he built up the bank’s coverage of corporates in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal, and sovereign bond issuers across western Europe.

Prior to this, Segal spent six years at Germany’s Deutsche Bank based in London and New York, covering US corporate and Latin American sovereign, bank and corporate issuers.

In 2010, Segal and the Barclays Capital team worked on four large deals in the Middle East. These include Qatar Telecom’s October 2010 issuance and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank’s $750m deal.

He has also worked on several other recent high-profile transactions, including the euro bond issue of Russian Railways that took place earlier in 2011.
