Agence Francaise de Developpement funding civil work packages

Jordan’s Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has tendered the first contract for its bus rapid transit (BRT) scheme.

The contract covers the civil works for the BRT terminal and traffic interchange.

Bids are expected by 13 March.

The civil work contracts for the entire scheme are funded by France’s Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD).

Estimated budget for the first civil work package is between $40m and $50m, according to Riyad Kharabshaeh, BRT project manager at GAM.

Several tenders are yet to be released. These include the tenders for the BRT’s Sports City interchange and the transaction advisorr role for the procurement of the rolling stock and operation and maintenance (O&M) package.

These tenders are expected to be released later this year, Kharabshaeh said.

Kharabshaeh told MEED in November last year that they are expecting the potential rolling stock contractor or contractors to invest in the scheme.
