Jordan's Aqaba Ports Corporation hits eight-year revenue high

Jordan's Aqaba Ports Corp (APC) has said posted JD73m in revenues in 2011, the highest level in eight years, Jordan Times has reported. APC's handling volume grew by 14% to 19.2 million tonnes last year, compared with the previous year when APC revenues amounted to JD68m, said APC director, Mohammed Mubaydeen. The port has been receiving more goods which used to be imported through Syrian ports, he noted. More than 1.3 million tonnes of goods have arrived recently at the port which used to be imported via the Syrian ports, he said.
