JV secures Lake View hotel

The local/Belgian joint venture of Arabtec Constructionand Bel Hasa Six Constructhas been selected for the estimated AED 725 million ($197 million) main contract to build the 300-metre-high Lake View hotel and serviced apartments on the Burj Dubai development. The client is local property developer Emaar Properties(MEED 19:8:05).

The scheme calls for the construction of a 63-storey, five-star facility with four basements and offering 194 rooms, 625 furnished apartments and associated leisure and car parking facilities. With a total built-up area of about 170,000 square metres, the project will take 32 months to complete. South Africa's Mirage Mille Leisure & Developmentis the project manager; the architect is the UK's Atkins.

Three contractors have also submitted final prices for the estimated $140 million Dubai Mall hotel. The bidders are CSHK Dubai Contracting (CSHK)and the local/UK joint ventures of Al-Naboodah Laing O'Rourkeand Dutco Balfour Beatty, which is already working on the Dubai Mall development. The project will involve the construction of a 35-storey building with a two-level podium. The consultant is Meinhardt Singapore.
