The two other bidders were Lebanon’s Arabian Construction Company (ACC)and Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC).

The 28-month contract will call for the construction of an 80-storey tower on top of a nine-level podium. The mixed-use development will contain a five-star luxury hotel, to be managed by Dubai-based management company Jumeirah, office space and one- and two-bedroom apartments.

UAE-based Middle East Foundationswas awarded in early 2005 the estimated $15 million piling and foundations package. The design consultant is the UK’s RMJM International; Hyder Consulting, also of the UK, is the construction consultant. The project manager is the US’ Hill International.
