Biography: K Venkataramanan is president, engineering & construction, for India’s Larsen & Toubro. A large part of this role involves overseeing Larsen & Toubro’s modular fabrication yard at Sohar in Oman.

The yard is a joint venture between Larsen & Toubro and Oman’s Zubair Corporation. It fabricates rigs and platforms for the offshore oil and gas industry. The yard has an area of 400,000 square metres and its client list includes Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), Saudi Aramco and the US’ Chevron.

Venkataramanan has a degree in chemical engineering from IIT Delhi. He joined Larsen & Toubro as a graduate engineering management trainee in 1966. In his 44 years with Larsen & Toubro, Venkataramanan has been involved in numerous engineering schemes.

He is also a member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
