US-based Halliburton KBR announced on 7 June the award of a major oilfield services contract from Saudi Aramco on the Khurais crude increment programme. The three-year contract, the value of which was not disclosed, will include a full range of integrated services and technologies. The order provides for the use of up to 23 rigs to support the drilling and completion of more than 300 wells at the onshore field to produce 1.2 million barrels a day of Arabian Light crude by 2009. Bids are due to be submitted on 27 June for the two main packages on Khurais the gas-oil separation plant (GOSP) and the central gas processing facilities (MEED 19:5:06).
