Once fully developed, the three parcels will have 271 high-rise structures and will occupy 5-8 per cent of the new city’s total area. Submissions for the city’s masterplan are currently under review, but it is understood that once completed the city will cover an area of about 20 square kilometres.
An award is imminent on another parcel within the city, for a residential complex’s piling, shoring excavation and dewatering contract. Bidders for the piling contract are understood to include Germany’s Bauer
and Middle East Foundations
, both local. The client, a joint venture of the local Link Investments
with First Gulf Bank
, is seeking expressions of interest for the main construction package, which is expected to go for tender by mid-December. Abu Dhabi-based Bainona & Al-BayatyArchitects
is the design consultant. The US’ Morganti
is the project manager (MEED 11:11:05).
