Package A: Geotechnical and site survey

Contractor: Stratacan (Canada)

Package B: Ancillary buildings

Status: Construction under way. Due to be completed in third quarter of 1998

Contractor: Construction Development Company (local)

Value: $20 million

Scope of works: Demolition of some obsolete buildings and the construction of: a new air traffic control tower; a main fire station; a facility for ground handling agents; stores; and workshops

Package C: Main terminal building

Status: Prequalification of international contractors is progress. Up to 10 companies expected to be invited to bid in the next two months. The construction period will be 20-22 months

Contractor: To be selected

Estimated value: $75 million

Scope of works: Construction of a new 56,000-square metre terminal and a new apron. Besides constructing the three-storey building, the successful contractor will also be in charge of the mechanical and electrical works and the installation of speciality equipment, including passenger loading bridges, the baggage handling system and the FIDS and BIDS.

Package D: Road networks

Status: Due to be tendered in 1998 among local contractors

Contractor: Still to be selected

Estimated value: Not known

Scope of works: Construction of a new road network around the airport, including an elevated road linking the D ring-road to the new terminal building.
