Bids have been invited by 13 February for a major hotel and residential development on Abu Dhabi island. Known as the Khalidiya Rotana hotel and residences, the estimated $200 million project will have a built-up area of about 200,000 square metres.

Prequalifiers include the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company (ACC), the local Arabtec Construction, the local Civilco with Canada’s Milne & Nichol, South Africa’s Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East) and Belgium’s Six Construct.

The development, which will be built on the site of the existing Khalidiya hotel, calls for the construction of four towers. One will be 21 storeys high and house the hotel and furnished apartments with a total of 436 rooms; there will also be two 23-floor residential towers, each with 117 apartments; and an 18-floor tower with 108 offices.

The consultant is Lebanon’s Khatib & Alami; the project manager is the UK’s EC Harris. The client is a private developer.
