The privately owned Khalifa Airwayshas signed a five-year agreement to lease two Boeing 777-200 airliners from Boeing Aircraft Tradingof the US. The 240-seat aircraft, powered by GE90 engines, are scheduled for delivery in November and December. They will be used to connect Algeria to various African, European and transatlantic destinations.
The deal will bring Khalifa's total fleet to 44 aircraft, including five Boeing 737s and 21 Airbuses of various types.
Khalifa has also announced plans to start up several new routes in early November. These include services from Algiers and Oran to London, and from Algiers to Geneva.
