Biography: Khamis bu Amim was named chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, a subsidiary of Dubai World in June 2010.

Bu Amim has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, having worked for the US’ ConocoPhillips in various management positions. Between 2002-07, he was vice-president of Dubai Petroleum Company, a ConocoPhillips affiliate company in the UAE. In 2007, he was elected president and chief executive officer of Regional Clean Sea Organisation, an oil industry cooperative organisation.

Bu Amim has held several other key roles, including secretary general of the Dubai government’s Oil Spill Task Force, secretary general of the UAE Oil and Gas Human Resources Group and senior regional adviser for Global Energy.

He has a degree in business management and economics. Drydocks World’s Dubai yard is the largest facility of its kind in the Middle East.
