Kharafi group bids low for catalyst

The local/French team of Kharafi National and Camom is the low bidder at KD5.3m ($19.6m) for the contract to provide catalyst loading and unloading services to state refinery operator Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC).

The group's bid is marginally lower than the KD6.1m ($22.6m) submitted by the local Ratqa General Trading & Contracting Company. The only other price, of KD19.3m ($71.5m), was submitted by the local Arabian Pipeline & Services Company.

Catalysts are an essential component of the refining process. They are used to speed up the crude cracking process.

KNPC is undergoing an ambitious downstream development programmes (MEED 10:2:08).
