Kharafi takes Four Seasons

Kuwait's Mohamed Abdulmohsin Kharafi & Sonshas taken the $50 million main construction package on the Four Seasons hotel development in Beirut. Kharafi was among three contractors shortlisted by Kingdom Development Company (Kadco)for the contract following the submission of revised prices in late March (MEED 2:04:04).

The other two shortlisted firms were the local Arabian Construction Company (ACC)and a group led by Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company. The centrepiece of the main package, which covers the structure, fit-out and cladding for the new 33-storey structure located in property developer Solidere'shotel district, will be a 90-metre reinforced concrete tower which will house the 300-room hotel. The enabling works package was carried out by Germany's Bauer. The consultant on the project is Beirut-based Dar al-Handasah (Shair & Partners).
