King Abdullah University awards facade contract

United Arab Aluminium Company (UAAC), a subsidiary of the local Construction Products Holding Company (CPC), has won an SR120m ($32m) contract to install aluminium and glass facades at King Abdullah University for Science & Technology (KAUST), near Jeddah.

The contract covers the installation of aluminium glass and facades in the university, residential and public service buildings.

Work is expected to be completed in nine months according to the company.

On 4 March, two US universities, Stanford University and the University of California in Berkeley announced that they will partner KAUST. The agreement will see the universities assist KAUST in picking faculty members and developing an academic curriculum as well as collaborating on academic research (MEED 05:03:08).

KAUST is due to open in 2009. The client on the estimated $3bn university scheme is Saudi Aramco.
