KOC awards area 2 PMC contract

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC)is understood to have formally awarded a contract to the US' Fluor Daniel to provide project management consultancy (PMC) services for all its future projects in area 2 for the next five years. Estimated to be worth KD 39.4 million ($131.5 million), the contract covers the south and west oil production facilities (MEED 31:1:03).

In December, six international companies submitted bids for two PMC contracts. The second contract, for area 1, covers the northern oil fields. Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), also of the US, is the low bidder for the contract, offering a price of KD 36.3 million ($121.2 million). An award is imminent (MEED 13:12:02).

The US' Parsons Engineering Corporationis currently providing PMC services for all KOC projects under an estimated $45 million-50 million contract awarded in late 2001. The contract is due to expire on 13 June.
