Koreans dip into the Lagoon

The South Korean joint venture of Daewoo DSME Construction Company and Sunjin Civil & Architecture (C&A) Company has been awarded the estimated AED 1,000 million ($272 million) main construction contract for the Dubai Lagoon project (MEED 24:2:06).

The project comprises 51 residential buildings with a built-up area of 163,000 square metres, internal roads, landscaping, lagoon formations and mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP). Construction work is scheduled to start by 1 August. The project is divided into two phases with phase 1 to be completed by December 2007 and phase 2 by mid-2008.

The local Bagheri Road Contracting is working on the ground levelling contract. US-based Artec Architectural & Engineering Consultants has prepared the masterplan. Local real estate developer Town Centre Management is the client.
