Kuwait’s private airline Jazeera Airways is to start flights to Al-Maktoum International at Dubai World Central from 31 October.

Tickets for flights have gone on sale and the airline will be running two flights a week to and from Dubai’s new airport. Jazeera will continue to run its 25-weekly flights to Dubai International.

The new airport is opening its passenger terminal to commercial traffic at the end of the month, with two low-cost airlines – Saudi Arabia’s Nasair and Hungary-based WizzAir – already signed up to operate flights out of the new facility.

The passenger terminal has an initial capacity of 5 million passengers a year, expandable to 7 million. The long-term plan is to expand the airport to provide a capacity of 120 million passengers by the early 2020s.
