New runway still planned
The two existing runways at Kuwait International airport will be extended, said Mahdy al-Dakheel, director of the projects department at Kuwait International airport and directorate general of Civil Aviation, at MEED’s Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS) on 25 May.
One runway will be extended from 3,400 metres to 4,780 metres and the other from 3,500 metres to 4,000 metres.
The planned new runway will be 4,580 metres and will serve the planned Kuwait Cargo City and military operations.
