Kuwait awards substation contract to Ahlea

The local Al-Ahlea Electric Boards Company has been awarded the contract for the supply and installation of five 132/11 kV substations at Jaber al-Ahmed.

The company was the low bidder for the project with a price of KD17.5m ($66.2m).

Four other firms had also submitted bids, including Europe’s ABB and France’s Areva. The Ministry of Electricity & Water is the client.

An award is also due on a second substation at Jaber al-Ahmed. Korea's Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the low bidder for the contract to build the 300/132/11kV facility.

The company submitted a price of KD24.4m for the project. ABB was the second lowest bidder, followed by Areva (MEED 7:4:08).
