Local group wins two contracts worth $211m to supply drilling rigs to state-owned energy company
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has awarded several upstream and oil field services contracts worth nearly $400m covering the supply of drilling rigs, slickline and flowlines.
Kuwait’s Burgan Company for Well Drilling, Trading & Maintenance won two contracts valued at a combined KD59.5m ($211m) for the supply of rigs for drilling and workover operations.
Meanwhile, KOC awarded two contracts for the provision of slickline and associated services. US-based oil field services group Weatherford and Egypt’s Sahara Petroleum Services Company (Sapesco) both won deals worth $62.8m.
The local Arabi Enertech was awarded a $59.2m contract involving the construction of high-pressure flowlines and associated works for Jurassic wells in north Kuwait.
KOC, a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, is the world’s fourth-largest crude exporter.
