Housing authority cancels tender for three public building projects

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has cancelled three tenders for its Sabah al-Ahmed and Jaber al-Ahmed Town housing projects.

The housing body has cancelled tenders for contracts to build public buildings at areas D and E at its Sabah al-Ahmed development and sectors N1 and N3 at its Jaber al-Ahmed scheme.

Contractors that were preparing to bid for the contracts do not know why the tenders were cancelled, and when or if they will be retendered. The tender documents for the schemes had been issued in February.

The Sabah al-Ahmad development is located 50 kilometres south of Kuwait City. When completed, Sabah al-Ahmad will comprise 9,000 housing units. In August 2011, the PAHW awarded a KD34.3m ($123.5m) contract to the local Alamiah Building Company for the contract to build the public buildings of suburb C at the development.
