Kuwait developer tenders Abu Dhabi construction contract

Project will be located on Reem Island

Kuwait’s National Real Estate Company (NREC) has invited contractors to submit bids by 15 August for the contract to build its AED1.2bn ($327m) Carina Views residential development in Abu Dhabi.

The Carina Views project, which will be located on Reem Island, will include four 22-storey towers. The towers will contain 684 residential apartments, community rooms, swimming pools and parking facilities.

The development will have a total built up area of 156,800 square metres. The project is scheduled for completion in 2012.

Germany’s Bauer has been awarded a contract for the enabling works.

The local office of KEO International Consultants is the main architect for the project.

NREC is also carrying out the final stages of the design work on their proposed AED3.2bn ($871m) Reem Mall.

The mall development, which will also be located on Reem Island, will include retail units, office units, a 500-room four star hotel, 170 residential apartments and car parking facilities.

The gross floor area of the shopping area will be 260,000 sq m, and the office units will occupy an area 35,000 sq m. With the inclusion of the car parking facilities, the total development will cover an area of 960,000 sq m.

Germany’s Bauer is due to start piling work in August.

The mall development is set for completion in early 2013 (MEED 21:4:10).
