Project will expand capacity of existing facility by 750MW
Kuwaits Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) has again extended the bid submission date for the contract to increase the capacity of the Subiya power plant.
The bid deadline has been extended to 24 May from the previous 26 April. The extension is believed to have been granted to allow firms more time to work on proposals.
The third phase of the combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) expansion of the Subiya plant will add an additional 750MW to its capacity.
In December, the MEW received bids from contractors to convert the existing plant to a combined-cycle facility. The same firms also submitted prices for the deal to convert the existing Al-Zour South plant to a combined-cycle facility. The projects will boost the capacity of each plant by about 250MW.
