Deadline for Subiya and Al-Zour South power plant bids extended to 26 August

Kuwait’s Electricity and Water Ministry has extended the deadline for bids to build two 450MW power plants at Subiya and Al-Zour South to 26 August.

Each project will comprise two 225MW power generating units. The ministry has not conducted a prequalification process and the tenders are open to all contractors.

Contractors will have 18 months to build the projects from the date of signing. Both projects are planned for commissioning by May 2014.

The projects will be built on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. According to Kuwaiti law, projects more than 500MW must be tendered as independent power projects (IPPs).
