Kuwait extends Subiya power plant deadline

Kuwait's Water & Electricity Ministry has extended the bid deadline for the contract to build the Subiya power plant by two weeks to 21 October.

Bids for the 2,000MW combined cycle plant had been due to be submitted on 7 October.

Six companies have been prequalified for the project. They are the US's GE, Spain's Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion, Japan's Mitsui & Company, Marubeni Corporation, also of Japan, SNC Lavalin of the UK and Germany's Siemens.

The successful bidder will design, supply, construct, operate and maintain the power plant.

The deadline for the project has already been postponed several times (MEED 19:8:08).
