Kuwait issues tender for construction of gas pipeline

Pipeline will transport gas from the north of the country to the Mina al-Ahmadi refinery

State-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has issued the invitation to bid (ITB) to pre-qualified companies to build a strategic pipeline that would transport gas from the north of the country to the Mina al-Ahmadi refinery.

The deadline for submitting bids for the $200m-worth main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project is 6 November.

MEED on 26 July had reported that the tender for the job was expected to be issued within days.

Along with construction of the 48 inches-wide, 150 kilometre-long pipeline, the scope of work also includes installation of compressor station and control rooms.

Issue of the ITB for the project has been considerably delayed by KOC, as the tender was initially expected to be issued in November last year.

The UK’s Wood Group has done the front-end engineering and design (feed) for the project, and France’s Technip FMC is the project management consultant.
