Dr Fadhil Safar, Kuwait's Minister of State for the Municipality and for Public Works said that the country needs a second airport in order to cope with the increasing number of travellers, which the government projects will rise steeply in the future. A second airport would turn Kuwait into an international financial and commercial centre, Safar said.
