Local contractor will build fire stations at three different locations across the country

Kuwait Oil Company has awarded the local Combined Group Contracting Company a KD26.9m ($95.5m) contract to build several civilian fire stations in Kuwait.

The local contractor was awarded the contract on 23 March. The work will involve designing and building fire stations at locations in North Kuwait, West Kuwait and Burgan.

Combined Group’s low bid was 3.4 per cent lower than the KD27.8m price submitted by the second lowest bidder, the local Alamiah Building Company.

Combined Group, in a joint venture with UAE’s Arabtec Construction, was selected to build the $428m Faculty of Arts and Education Buildings at Kuwait University’s new Sabah al-Salem University campus.

The project will involve the construction of the faculty buildings and associated facilities, site improvements and landscape development. Both colleges will comprise five-storey academic buildings, faculty offices and administrative office buildings.

The two College of Arts buildings combined will cover approximately 54,000 square metres, and the two College of Education structures will cover a total area of 55,000 sq m.

The arts faculty will include a 500-seat auditorium, a multipurpose hall and dining facilities. The College of Education will contain a 250-seat auditorium, learning resource centre and a dining facility (MEED 11:2:11).
