A fire that broke out at an oil field in northern Kuwait has been contained, according to comments made by state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).

Speaking to state-controlled news agency, KUNA, on 17 February KOC spokesperson Saad al-Azmi said that firefighting teams are taking precautionary measures in the wake of the fire. These include cooling the drilling platform.

KOC did not give details on the exact location of the fire or on how oil operations have been disrupted.
