Kuwait prequalifies 17 groups for 1GW solar project

Project will be developed under a build and finance model

Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has prequalified 17 groups for the planned 1GW al- Dibdah photovoltaic (PV) solar project.

The project, which is planned to be tendered under an engineering, procurement and construction plus finance (EPC+F) contract, has attracted the interest of major regional and international developers and contractors.

KNPC will issue the request for proposals (RFPs) to the prequalified groups by the end of the first week of July.

The 17 prequalified groups are:

  • First Solar (US), KEC International (India), United Building Company (local)
  • Acwa Power (Saudi Arabia)
  • CCC (Lebanon), Prodiel Proyectos de Instalaciones Electricas
  • SNC Lavalin (Canada)
  • China Communication Construction Company, GCL System Integration Technology
  • Engie (France)
  • Shanghai Electric Company (China), China Triumph International Engineering
  • GE (US), Sterling & Wilson (India), Chint Solar (China)
  • Metallurgical Corporation of China
  • Datung Environment Industry Group (China), OHL (Spain)
  • China Machinery Engineering Corporation, Greencells (Germany) , Tina Solar (Luxembourg)
  • TSK Electronica Y Electricidad (Spain), EOSOL Energy (Spain)
  • China National Machinery Import & Export, HT Solar Technology (China)
  • Jinko Power (China)
  • Norinco International Corporation (China)/ Wuxi Suntech Power
  • North West Electric Power Design Institute Company (China)/ ET Solar International Company
  • Masdar (Abu Dhabi)
